ENA Connection Dec. 2004
Nominated by: Stacy Antich

I am nominating Nancy Vorgias, because as the saying goes, she is someone you should know. Nancy is not your typical ER nurse. She is an emergency room nurse who has been fighting a terminal illness called inflammatory breast cancer for the past 9 months. Despite having chemotherapy every 3 weeks and losing her hair, feeling nauseated and run down,

Nancy continues to work full time in the emergency room doing what she loves best. She refused to be anything other than a nurse. She does not see herself as dying of cancer, but rather as living with cancer. She comes to work and gives her patients 100% of herself, despite battling her own life-threatening disease. The only normalcy she has left is the fact that she can go to work and take care of ill patients.
"She comes to work and gives her patients 100% of herself, despite battling her own life-threatening disease. "

Nancy is kind, considerate, and dedicated to the care she provides to her patients. She is an incredible role model for anyone who meets her. Her hard work and dedication puts her in a class of her own. I pray that she will continue to have a lifetime of caring for patients and that she will beat her terrible disease. I will never again meet anyone quite like Nancy. I wish for her to be recognized for her tremendous dedication to the nursing field. She is someone you should know.
